class mates

It was quite interesting to see what the other students thought of the 4 artists. I was interested that some people had very contrasting views on the 4 artists. Most students seemed to like the same two artists, and found my personal favorite alittle bland (Cindy Sherman). I enjoyed seeing what inspires the other students and look forward to seeing their work.

4 artists

Gregory Crewsdon: his work contains landscapes and very few living creatures in the work. When the artist does add humans to the work they are often understated and have a sense of belonging to the work or blending in the piece. A lot of his works has an empty feeling that causes the viewer to question what is going on.
Teun Hocks:This work uses humans but uses it in a way that adds interest in the piece. I like the work because it has a quirky sense that makes the viewer really stand up and notice. Unlike the previous work (Crewsdon's people were understated) the people pop out of the work and intrigues the viewer because they are interested in the story behind the work.
Jeff Wall: His work places things from everyday life together to create a scene that the viewer can relate to. He uses real life in an inovative way such as the wind blowing away papers from a person or showing the effects of war. He also chooses to play with color. It is chosen deliberately based on the message he is trying convey.
Cindy Sherman: I love her work she uses the concept of feminism and displays women in different lights. She uses black and white rather then color to express her message. There is one piece that shows a woman outside in the city, demonstrating how women had to go get jobs when the men left to fight in WWII.

Taokaka

This is Taokaka She is a cat person from the video game called Blazblue. She is the humor character in this video game which is a cross between street fighter and guilty gear. All she cares about is food and naps and is willing to do most things for them. The reason I chose this image is because she is a carefree spirit and is very easy going and easy to please. I resemble her in a couple of ways as well as the fact that I dressed up as her for Halloween. I love the creativity that was put into the game and the story line and often include fan art, anime, and simply drawing for fun as part of the artwork that I create.
