concept for poem

Concept- I chose this poem because me and my twin would go back and forth with each other saying it when we were younger. I took the concept of the knock knock joke in the beginning and made it literal. After that I wanted to show the argument between the two through a door. I wanted to used real people but I couldn’t get them to look right even buying masks didn’t help. So I went back to what I knew, Shel’s strength is not creating a realistic character but one children can relate to. I wanted to make a book that would be fund for kids and allow them to use their imagination to take the poem to a new level like me and my sister.

Teun Hocks and Ellen Kooi

Hocks uses gelatin silver prints. Kooi uses color and motion to create subtle surrealism. Both do artwork that has a surreal feel to it. Gave Biography on both artists. Kooi art shown : Veslen- Slootmist, Monte Sibilini- Rim, Alphen a/d Rijn- Waterkant, Overveen- Kilf, Lissabon- Tree
Hocks-Untitled (rope of sheets), Untitled (man with hats), Untitled (man on ice), Untitled (String Theory), Untitled (crying a waterfall)
She uses cameras and he mixes the two, he uses humor and both are very playful in their work. The work is very whimsical. Had a work cited page. Catye and Shannon
